Proceedings of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. About the publication

The biennial scholarly serial entitled The Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (executive editor Daiva Narbutienė) was first launched in 2004.

After the renaming of the Library in 2009, the publication appeared in 2011 under a new title – The Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (executive editor D. Narbutienė). Publishing responsibilities were assumed by the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, which continues as the publisher to this day.

In 2013, the publication underwent significant changes in both content and structure. An international editorial board was established, and the publication became subject to peer review by two scholars. Since 2015, each scholarly article has been evaluated by two independent reviewers.

Since 2021, the publication has been issued as an annually prepared and published interdisciplinary scholarly serial. In addition to research articles, it includes information reflecting the activities and achievements of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

In 2021, the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences became a member of the Lithuanian Association of Scientific Periodicals. From that year onward, all contributions to the serial The Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences have been assigned DOI registration identifiers.

Since 2022, following a decision of the Library’s Research Council, the publication has been issued under the new title Proceedings of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, more accurately reflecting its scope and purpose: to  publish research in book studies; librarianship; bibliography; cultural, literary, and art history; document conservation and restoration; as well as contributions dedicated to the dissemination of scholarship, written heritage monuments, and primary research sources.

By 2026, a total of 14 volumes (approximately 210 author’s sheets) had been published. Each volume has a print run of 100–200 copies. The Library’s Publishing Department is headed by Gytis Vaškelis.

The future aims and vision of the scholarly serial Proceedings of the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences include the annual preparation and publication of one volume (in December), the expansion of contributions from researchers in Lithuania and abroad, and the publication of articles in Lithuanian, English, and – subject to agreement with the editorial board – other languages.

The publication is financed by the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and no article processing or publication fees are charged to authors.

A selection of articles published in the journal is indexed in the international scholarly database “Lituanistika”.
