Estate and manorial archives

F31. 1469 items: documents from 1487–1901 (originals and transcripts).  In Lithuanian, Ruthenian, Russian, Polish, Latin, German, French, Italian, Czech, and Serbian. Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

The founders of the collection were the Radvila princes of the Biržai line, especially Boguslavas Radvila (1620–1669) and later rulers of Biržai; as well as  the following Tyszkiewicz family members of the Lahoisk line: the archaeologist Eustachy Tyszkiewicz (1814–1873), the librarian Michał Tyszkiewicz (1828–1897), and the historian Jan Tyszkiewicz (1860–1901)

The collection was received in 1940 from the then State Wroblewski Library (the present-day Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences).

The collection was founded and supplemented by the Budrikas family: Budrikų šeima (Jonas, Petras ir Kristupas Budrikas (1596); Aleksandras Budrikas and his wife Benedikta Daugėlaitė-Budrikienė (1692); Danielius Ivanovičius Budrikas, the owner of the  Budrikai estate (1709); Kazimieras Budrikas, treasurer of Smolensk and poruchik of the Rietavas poviat (1761); Romualdas Kondratas, owner of the  Budrikai estate and a judge at the Raseiniai court  (1824); Matas Kondratas, canon of the Samogitian chapter and parish priest ot Kražiai (1812–1823).

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

F33. 184 items: documents from 1502–1926 (originals and transcripts).  In Ruthenian, Polish, and Russian. Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

The founder of the collection is Kletas Kazimieras Burba, estate owner in Kaunas province in 1859–1861.

The collection was acquired in 1947 from the Institute of Lithuanian Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR (now the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore).

F207. 3154 items from 1534–1915: manuscripts, publications, and plans. In Lithuanian, Latin, Ruthenian, Polish, Russian, French, German, English, and Latvian.  Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

The collection was acquired in 1947 from the Institute of Lithuanian Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR (now the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore).  It was catalogued in 1973–1974.

F200. 887 items from 1591–1916: manuscripts, print publications, technical drawings. In Lithuanian, Latvian, Polish, Ruthenian, Russian, Latin, German, and French.  Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

The founders of the collection are the Eidrigevičius family, estate owners from the Upytė poviat.

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

F34. 208 items from 1560–1929: manuscripts and other documents. In Polish, Russian, and German.  Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue. 

The founders of the collection are Jokūbas Karpis, Elder of Plungė (1758); Eustachijus Karpis an his son Pranas Karpis, owners of the Joniškėlis estate (1818–1857); Juozas Medekša, owner of the Orvistai (Arvydai?) estate (1870–1875 m.); Jonas Kudrevičius (late 19th century).

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University and in 1959 from Stasys Jaskėnas, staff member of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR.

F35. 80 items: manuscripts and other documents from 1548–1888. In Ruthenian, Polish, Russian, and German. Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

The founders of the collection are Eligijus Kaunackis (Kownacki) and Teodoras Kaunackis (Kownacki), Samogitian nobles who lived in the second half of the 17th century; Anupras Kaunackis (Kownacki) (1733–1795), Samogitian judge and owner of the Upyna estate; and Pranciškus Kaunackis (Kownacki) (1804–1882), canon of the Samogitian diocese.

The collection was acquired by the Library of the Lithuanian Scientific Society circa 1916–1920 (see „Knygos“, 1922, No. 2–3, March-June, p. 234).

It was handed over in 1940 by the then State Wroblewski Library (the present-day Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences).

The collection was received in 1940 from the then State Wroblewski Library (the present-day Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences).

F37. 12 344 items: manuscripts (including letters) and other documents from 1459–1949 (originals and transcripts). In Lithuanian, Ruthenian, Russian, Latin, Polish, German, and French. Described in the Manuscripts Department’s card catalogue.

 

The founder of the collection is the founder of the Šiauliai Aušra Museum, Peliksas Bugailiškis (1883–1965), who collected documents from various Samogitian estates, churches, and villages in 1920–1939.

The collection was acquired from the Šiauliai Aušra Museum in 1950.
