The founder of the collection is Ivanas Lappo (Ivan Lappo, 1869–1944), historian, Kaunas University professor.

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

The founder of the collection is Edmundas Laucevičius (1906–1973 m.), educator and cultural historian.

The collection was acquired in 1969 from Edmundas Laucevičius. More was acquired in 1988 from the art scholar Vladas Drėma; and in 1989 m. from the Vilnius Art Museum through the mediation of its director Romualdas Budrys and curator L. Meškelevičienė.

The founder of the collection is Hilarijus Lenskis (Hilary Łęski, 1835–1920), founder of the Vilnius Society of the Friends of Science and owner of the White Vokė estate in Vilnius County.

The collection was acquired in 1944 from the Łęski Counts’ home in Vilnus.

The founder of the collection is Petras Leonas (1864–1938), jurist and lawyer; professor (since 1922), and later dean, of the Faculty of Law of Vytautas Magnus University.

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

The founder of the collection is Father Aleksandras Lėvanas (1905–1978), priest, socio-political writer, Doctor of Theology, professor of the Vilnius Priest Seminary.

The collection was acquired in 1947 from the Book Chamber of the Lithuanian SSR.

The founder of this collection is Algimantas Liekis (October 16, 1943 in Stokaičiai, Žygaičiai district, Tauragė county – August 15, 2019), Lithuanian engineer, journalist, editor, historian, Doctor of Humanities. He graduated from the Vainutas secondary school (Šilutė district) and, in 1966, from the Kaunas Polytechnic Institute as an industrial and civil construction engineer. Was a member of editorial boards of the newspaper “Komjaunimo tiesa” (The Komsomol Truth) in 1966–1968, the journal “Jaunimo gretos” (Ranks of the Youth) in 1968–1970, the journal “Mokslas ir technika” (Science and Technology) in 1972–1980.  He was deputy chief editor of the publication “Sparnai” (Wings) in 1970–1972 and of the journal “Statyba ir architektūra” (Construction and Architecture) in 1980–1984.  Candidate of History (1982), head of the Department of the History of Science and Technology at the Institute of History in 1984-1991.  In 1993, 1995, 1998, and 2001 had sabbaticals in the U.S.A.  He was the founder and chief editor of the serial publications “Lietuvos mokslas” (Lithuanian Science, 1990-) and “Lietuvių tauta” (Lithuanian Nation, 1997-).  In 1994-1995, he headed the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania. He lectured at the Faculty of Communication of Vilnius University in 1996–2003, and at the International Centre of Knowledge Economy and Knowledge Management of Vilnius University since 2003. He was a staff member of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University since 1997,  director of the Research History Centre since 2002, associate professor since 2003.  He compiled more than 60 scientific books.  Was a member of the Vilnius city Naujamiestis branch of the Lithuanian Nationalists’ Union.  Notable awards: Riflemens’ Star, Darius and Girėnas Medal, Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (2004).

The collection was acquired from the founder’s spouse, Zita Liekienė. The collection is still being supplemented.

The collection was acquired in 1973.

The founder of the collection is Natalija Likevičienė (1910–1977), zoologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences.

The collection was received in 1980 from the archive of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR.

The founder of the collection is Augustinas Linčius (pre-1945, Lipčius, b. 1934), geologist, Doctor of Physical Sciences (1967), employee of the Institute of Geology and Geography in 1958–2000 (from 1963, the Institute of Geology); employee of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Vilnius University from 2000.

The collection was acquired in 2015 and is still being added to.

The founder of the collection is Julijonas Lindė-Dobilas (1872–1934), priest, literary critic, educator, teacher and director of the Panevėžys secondary school, the author of one of the first novels of the Lithuanian literature, “Blūdas”.

The collection was acquired in 1950 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

The founders of the collection are Jonas Dominykas Lopacinskis (Jan Dominik Łopaciński, 1709–1778), Bishop of Samogitia; Juozapas Leonas Lopacinskis (Józef Leon Łopaciński, 1751–1803), Prelate of the Vilnius Chapter and Suffragan Bishop of Samogitia; Mikalojus Tadas Lopacinskis (Mikołaj Tadeusz Łopaciński, 1715–1778), statesman of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, deputy of sejmiks, voivode of Brest, and Lithuanian treasury notary.

The collection was received in 1940 from the then State Wroblewski Library (the present-day Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences).
