Prabočių Anūkas, 1876–1928), historian of Lithuanian written culture, ethnographer, bibliographer, journalist, and public activist; and Vilius Bruožis (Bruažis, Brožaitis, 1843–1909), civic activist, physician, executive editor of the newspapers “Varpas” (The Bell) and “Ūkininkas” (The Farmer) in  1898, member of the Birutė education society since 1885, and the author of the proclamation entitled “Mieli lietuvininkai” (Dear Prussian Lithuanians) and published in 1886.

The collection was received in 1951 from the library of the then Kaunas State University.

The founders of this collection are the following Buchowecki (Buchowiecki) family members: Tadas (Tadeusz), Vilnius judge in the second half of the 18th century and owner of the Gorodishche estate in Nowogrudok County; Antanas Vincentas (Antoni Wincenty), Brest treasurer in the late 18th century; and Aleksandras (Aleksander), Brest town clerk in the late 18th – early 19th century.
