The founders of the collection are bibliophile Vitalijus Ragevičius (1941–2013) and his wife Aldona Ragevičienė, folklore collector, researcher, founder(1968)  and leader (until 1972) of the Vilnius University folklore band “Ratilio”.

The collection was received from Aldona Ragevičienė in 2014.

The founders of the collection are Anicetas Renjė (Anicety Renjer, Reniger, Regnier, Renjé, 1804–1877), physician and Vilnius civic activist; Janas and Liudvikas Renjė (Jan and Ludwik Renjer), owners of the Kamionka estate in  Vilnius County in the 19th century.

The collection was received in 1940 from the then State Wroblewski Library (the present-day Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences).

The founder of the collection is Liudvikas Rėza (Ludwig Jedemin Rhesa, 1766–1841), literary scholar, folklorist, cultural activist, professor at Königsberg University (now Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University), researcher of Lithuanian literature, collector of Lithuanian songs, the first translator and publisher of “The Seasons” by Kristijonas Donelaitis.

The collection was acquired in 1947 from Professor Povilas Pakarklis in Vilnius.

The collection was acquired in 1947 from the Institute of Lithuanian Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the Lithuanian SSR (now the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore), which received it from the family of Albinas Rimka.
